FHM - Hur många kvinnor saknar intresse för sex?

FHM - Hur många kvinnor saknar intresse för sex?
What comes to mind when you hear the words sexual health?

Contraceptives?
Sexually transmitted infections?
Cervical screening?

That is probably where most of us begin.

But in early June, the Swedish Public Health Agency released its major report on sexual and reproductive health in Sweden, and one thing became very clear:

Sexual health is about so much more than that.

It is about wellbeing. About feeling safe. About pleasure. About having the freedom to feel comfortable and confident in your own body. The report also shows that women report more sex related problems than men. Many experience pain during or after sex, and a large proportion report a decreased interest in sex.

It is thought provoking. Because at the same time, there are still so many aspects of women's sexual wellbeing that are rarely discussed openly.

When we founded Aima Sense, we did so with one clear vision: Equal Pleasure. In our early research, 98% of the women we asked said they had declined sex because of the hygiene routine surrounding it.

Comments such as:

"Not now, I just took a shower."

or

"Not now, I'm heading to the gym soon."

Behind those answers were concerns such as:

• Worrying about hygiene or odor.

• Having to plan around your body and the natural "after drip". (Just because something is natural does not mean it is comfortable.)

These may sound like small things, but they affect how free a woman feels and how likely she is to say yes to intimacy. We exist to make life a little easier and to give women greater freedom, comfort and confidence after sex.

For us, Equal Pleasure is not only about pleasure in the moment.

It means that women should have the same opportunity as men to experience wellbeing before, during and after sex.
